Baycliff is a quiet village a few minutes walk from the shore of Morecambe Bay. The hundred or so houses are a mixture of 17th and 18th century buildings, and newer properties. Close to both Barrow and Ulverston, the South Lakes are only a short drive away, with both Coniston Water and Lake Windermere accessible in about 25 minutes. The Village Green, Baycliff.
There is also much of interest to discover in the immediate area, including: The Morecambe Bay shoreline. This is part of the Cumbria Coastal Way. Conishead Priory, Bardsea. A magnificent mock-gothic style building, on the site of a 12th century Augustine priory, replaced by a 16th century house, rebuilt in the 19th century by the Bradyll family. Formerly a miners' convalescent home, it is now home to the Manjushri Institute, a Buddhist Centre. Open to the public.
The Stone Circle, Birkrigg Common. A 4000 year old Bronze Age relic, backed by open views over Morecambe Bay and the Leven Estuary.
Ulverston. This is a delightful market town, with a wide range of local shops, cobbled streets and narrow alleyways, overlooked by Hoad Hill, and the Hoad Monument.
